The children living in the Child #1 Group Home had a very exciting Christmas this year due to the wonderful and generous efforts of the staff in the home. Starting on December 12 at 5:00 PM, staff provided a Christmas dinner and party for the individuals with great food cooked by staff with the assistance of Jonathon Jones from CCE who volunteered his time and expertise. Everyone had a great time!
As Christmas approached, the packages under the Christmas tree began to multiply and spread out from the tree. Each individual’s advocate shopped for their child’s presents. Although the individuals were excited and tempted to open the presents, they were encouraged to wait in case more arrived. And the wait paid off as more did arrive. Thanks to the efforts of Kori Rhode, Developmental Specialist, the U.S. Marines landed at Child #1 with “Toys for Tots” and thrilled all the kids with beautiful toys. Then Developmental Specialist Octavia Latham’s family donated a Christmas outfit and a toy to each child. Lead Developmental Specialist Tammy Ham brought presents from her church for each individual.
Mixed in with all of this generosity from the community was the usual love, care and kindness that this home’s staff provide on a daily basis all through the year. The individual’s in Child #1 are blessed to have a team of loving support led by Ms Elleane Pickett, OM. Her leadership has made for a team that is united and devoted to the children. They respect and truly care about each individual and do you know what, that love shines back everyday from the kids as they interact with the staff every day.
Thanks to Elleane, Tammy, Ronnie, Dalene, Kori, Shanna, Neva, Laura, Mary and Octavia for providing a wonderful Christmas for all the individuals at Child #1!
